Our take
3/5Lassen Volcanic National Park suits a birthday built around a family outing in a large outdoor setting. Its extensive grounds make choosing a specific destination more useful than treating the whole park as a single party venue. This is a reasonable match for a child who wants the excursion itself to be the celebration.
Parents should decide where everyone will meet before inviting a group. The park's special-use guidance addresses weddings and ceremonies, so ask about the arrangements appropriate to your gathering before planning a separate celebration within the visit.
