How we rateYosemite National Park spans 1,200 square miles, so a birthday outing needs a specific destination within the park. Choose where you want the group to meet before making detailed arrangements. The park has a special use permit process; describe your proposed gathering to the permits office and ask how it applies. Include the location and expected group size when discussing your plans with park staff.

Our take
3/5Yosemite National Park makes sense for a birthday child who wants an outdoor destination to shape the celebration. Its 1,200 square miles call for a specific meeting place and a deliberately limited plan. Choosing one part of the park would make more sense for a group than treating the entire destination as the day's itinerary.
The park has no single address or municipality, so give guests precise arrival directions. Special-use permits exist; ask whether your proposed gathering needs one before making arrangements. Build the invitation around a settled location and plan that families can follow.
