Our take
3.5/5California State Mining and Mineral Museum has a useful strength for a birthday outing: it already runs child and youth programs and school tours. That makes it a promising choice for a child interested in mining or minerals. Its location at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds gives families a specific destination around which to build the day.
Ask which activities are appropriate for your group and whether they can be arranged for your visit. School tours and youth programming give the museum an educational foundation, but birthday arrangements need their own conversation before you settle the itinerary.
