Our take
3/5McLean Park in Mobile is a public group use option for a family organizing its own birthday gathering. Consider it when you already have an idea for the celebration and want to discuss a park setting with the city. Match the location to that plan before deciding how many children to invite.
Mobile's rentals and permits contact is the practical starting point. Ask which area your group could use, whether a reservation is needed and what conditions apply to your activities. Confirm food arrangements and available facilities before sending invitations, then assign adult responsibilities so the gathering has a workable plan.
