Our take
3/5The combination of a playground and basketball court makes New York Avenue Recreation Center a sound option for a birthday built around play. An indoor multipurpose room gives parents another space to request, alongside the outdoor facilities. The appeal is having several possible ways to organize the gathering, with the final plan shaped by the reservation DPR approves.
The weekday schedule is the main practical constraint: the center is closed on weekends. That makes it a better candidate for families who can celebrate after school or during summer weekdays. Allow time for the permit application before settling plans with guests.
