Our take
3.5/5Alethia Tanner Park is a good match for a birthday built around playground play and a picnic. The open lawn gives the gathering a different setting from the play equipment, while the gardens make a quieter walk part of the possibilities. That mix suits families who prefer to shape the afternoon themselves.
The cafe seating area is another useful detail to consider when choosing where to gather. A birthday event requires a DPR permit, so settle the arrangements through that process before inviting everyone. The appeal here is the park setting and freedom to plan a simple celebration.
