Our take
4/5San Luis Obispo Children's Museum works well for a birthday that starts with a gathering and continues with play. Party & Play reserves space from 10:30 a.m. to noon, with museum play available afterward until closing. Child admission, tableware, a goodie bag and a birthday T-shirt keep several small preparations within the package.
The limit of 20 children suits a classmate group without requiring a huge celebration. Families should organize the meal and cake around the morning room slot. At $375 for nonmembers or $300 for members, compare the package against how much of the remaining museum day your group will use.
