Our take
2.5/5Manzanar National Historic Site suits a birthday outing built around an interest in history. The grounds and driving tour are open daily from sunrise to sunset, giving families flexibility in planning a visit. Choose this setting for a child who would value spending part of the day exploring a historic place.
The visitor center has limited weekly hours, so time the outing carefully if going inside matters to your group. Keep any separate celebration arrangements distinct from the visit, and contact the site before bringing a birthday group or planning activities on the grounds.
