Our take
3/5The group shelter at Holy Ground Battlefield Park suits a birthday built around a picnic together. Advance reservations give parents a way to secure the shelter before inviting guests, which is useful when everyone needs a definite meeting place. A daily rental fee applies, so include the shelter in the celebration budget.
Keep the event's scope in mind: activities beyond a routine picnic require a special events permit. Families planning games or additional entertainment should describe those plans when arranging the rental and ask whether a permit is needed. The simplest fit here is a modest picnic gathering.
