Our take
4/5Lake Frierson State Park makes sense for a birthday built around a family picnic and time outdoors. Its enclosed, climate-controlled pavilion gives the gathering a defined base, while hiking, fishing and kayaking provide possible activities around it. Those activities suit a group that enjoys choosing its own pace.
The $145 daily rental seats up to 80 people and includes 10 tables, a barbecue and an accessible restroom. That combination is useful for a larger gathering with adults attending alongside children. The pavilion is available year-round for birthdays; parents should plan the celebration themselves and contact the park to reserve.
