Our take
3.5/5Ivy Green gives a birthday outing a clear subject: Helen Keller's life and birthplace. Historic house tours suit children who enjoy stories about real people, while the children's scavenger hunt gives the group something specific to look for. That combination makes this a good choice for a child whose interests already lean toward history and discovery.
Build the outing around the tour and scavenger hunt, with time for children to talk about what caught their attention. The house is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday is closed, so weekend birthday plans need to favor Saturday.
