Our take
3/5Wald Park is worth considering for an informal birthday in Vestavia Hills when the family wants to organize the gathering themselves. I would start with the birthday child's preferred activity and use that to decide what to ask about. The park setting makes weather part of the planning from the outset.
Contact the recreation department about the space your group could use and whether a reservation is appropriate. Set a clear meeting point for guests, then work out food and cleanup around that arrangement. Keep an alternative plan for poor weather.
