Our take
3.5/5Beacon Park combines a picnic pavilion with a playground and walking track, giving a family a useful base for an outdoor birthday. The playground can be the main activity, with the pavilion providing a place for everyone to gather. It suits parents who enjoy planning the celebration around the children and a familiar park setting.
The pavilion costs $250, and a further $250 refundable damage deposit affects the amount you need available when arranging the rental. Contact the city to reserve it before inviting guests. Keep a weather backup in mind and decide how adults will supervise children moving between the gathering area and their activities.
