Choosing arcade credit
With a $10 arcade card, the price is $65 per racer Monday through Thursday or $75 Friday through Sunday. A $20 card raises those prices to $70 and $80. Packages with a $50 card cost $85 and $95 respectively. Extras, taxes and service fees are additional.
Our take
2.5/5K1 Speed in North Austin, near The Domain, runs indoor electric go-kart parties where the group races only against itself. Kids qualify, line up on the grid and run two 12-lap races. The top three and the birthday racer get medals on the podium, followed by an hour of reserved seating with a pizza or slider buffet.
The height rule decides who can come: junior karts need riders at least 48 inches tall, and adults and kids can't share a race. That usually means older grade-schoolers and up. Pricing is per racer, $65 to $85 Monday through Thursday and $10 more on weekends, plus taxes and fees, with at least eight racers. That makes it one of the pricier options for a mid-sized group.
